This is an Owner's Update and not a review. I am glad to announce that we have installed a new 46" LCD Flat Screen TV in the Great Room over the fireplace for your enjoyment in 2009! I will be posting updated pictures soon. Happy Vacation!

Owner Response: I am glad to announce that we have also replaced and upgraded the mattresses in both master bedrooms for the 2009 season, to enhance your sleeping experience while on vacation. We have also installed a new washer and dryer for the 2009 season! Happy Vacation!

This homeowner seemed to think of everything for the guest- light switches were all labeled, kitchen well stocked for cooking needs. It was simply a wonderful vacation experience for us. Thank you.

The property was very clean and the beach access close. We enjoyed walking the neighborhood and visiting the lighthouse and shops nearby. The bed in the upper master bedroom was very uncomfortable-frankly, the worst I've ever experienced and the week ended with a very bad stiff back and neck for me (45 year old female-not overweight-really :-)). The mattress was exeptionally spongy and non-supportive. Another drawback in the greatroom was an undersized TV. If families are sharing a house, we want to watch a movie together and the small TV was not condusive to that. The room could also use more comfy seating for shared movie watching. The deck railings seemed very low-I would worry about younger children falling over.

Owner Response: Our #1 priority is to provide a very clean vacation home for your enjoyment on a weekly basis. We know that having the beach, lighthouse, shops, natural reserve (location of the Corolla Wild horses) and lake within a safe and short walking distance is a big "plus" for the house. Also the neighborhood is beautiful, exclusive and has top notch amenities. One of our favorite activities is walking in our neighborhood and the surrounding areas.

We have not had any complaints about the bed, TV, seating or the deck railing, but we will monitor and see if we have other complaints this season. The bed is only 2 - 3 years old, and I personally think of the bed as being more firm then our bed at home. The TV and furniture in the "great room" is as "advertised" in the picture of the home. We are planning an upgrade to a "flat screen" TV above the fireplace for next season! Trust me, the deck railing is to code and is safe and we have not had any problems.

Great pool, hot tub was nice. Rooms were good. Everything else was amazing!!!! Thanks!

We had a great time and were happy with our experience. Beach access was great, so we didn't have to drive.

The updated kitchen/family room was great. We really enjoyed the bumper pool table. The couch could have been more comfortable. The master bed room was cozy and we could hear the ocean while we were sleeping. The many decks surrounding the home provided many relaxing options. The hot tub was clean and ready to go. One of the best features....the linens were on the beds upon arrival and the check out procedures were clearly documented and not at all a burden.

Anchors Away was a very nice vacation home. It has great amentities, great pool, lots of space and nicely kept. I would certainly consider returning or recommending to a friend.

I loved the house and it really met our needs! We also loved how close it was to the beach! In NY we all have gas grills so I was surprised to find only a charcoal grill. No big deal but you might want to let out-of-staters know that they will need charcoal and lighter fluid too. I have always tried to bring as much from home as I can to make things easier. It is a beautiful house and reasonably priced so we hope to possibly come back. Our 4 girls said to me just today that they miss Anchors Away. Thank you very much! We really enjoyed our vacation!

The home was open and light and airy with lovely furniture. The kitchen was easy to work in and you did not get separated from the group. The media availability was just what we wanted. The pool was a great luxury to all of us.

This house was in a perfect location......only a few minutes walk to the beach and had plenty of room for a mid-sized family or 2 small families. The decks were amazing with, virtually, a panoramic view and we could even see and hear the ocean from it! Great place to stay and we would rent it again.

I just spent a great week in Corolla at Anchors Away. The home is very close to the beach a very brief walk. The home is very clean and well equip with everything you can think of...the kitchen has everything you need to cook a gourmet meal. TV's in every room, air conditioning works great, the pool is very clean and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this property to any family looking for a relaxing vacation.

Cons: Nothing the home was well equip with all the extras....they thought of everyone (maybe a float for the pool...but that is about all)

The house was better then the pictures! Beach access was one house down. We took advantage of the bikes (one with child seat) to tour
the northern OBX. Great area, great house!
